About Trekonetlab
A small publishing project covering one narrow subject: what a desktop media player has to do once a video library stops being uniform — mixed formats, missing subtitles, high-resolution files.
Why this website exists
A single folder of clips now holds files from a phone, a camera, an editing program and a download, each favouring its own container and codec. A lightweight player opens some of them and stumbles on the rest, and the inconsistency is the part that wastes an evening. Trekonetlab exists to look at that problem plainly — what a more capable player actually solves, and what it does not.
We are a consumer information website. We do not build, host, licence, sell or support any media player ourselves, and we do not supply codecs, subtitles or licence keys.
The product category we cover
Our coverage focuses on full-featured desktop media players — applications that handle a wide range of containers and codecs, search for and synchronise subtitles, play UHD and 4K footage, and show more than one video at a time. GOM Player+, a premium Windows player from GOM Lab, is the product featured on our homepage.
This is a category where honest expectation-setting matters. A player does not repair a damaged file and cannot promise that every clip will decode; certain videos may require DirectX or Windows Media Player, and recommended settings can vary by file. Feature lists, system requirements and licensing terms also change, and the optional AI services run on a separate credit system rather than arriving with ordinary playback. We say so consistently, because a reader who buys something on the strength of an overstated promise is a reader we have failed.

Claims we will not make
No invented statistics, no fabricated user counts, no rankings we cannot substantiate, and no countdown timers or manufactured scarcity. If a figure is not something we can point to, it does not appear on the page.
How we frame products
Featured products are described in terms of what they are designed to do, with the caveats attached. We use words like “may” and “varies” when those are the honest words, even where a stronger one would convert better.
Advertising, disclosed up front
Our homepage article is a paid advertorial and is labelled as one at the very top of the page, above the header, before any content. Nothing about that arrangement is buried in a footnote.
Corrections
If something we publish is inaccurate or has gone out of date, write to us and we will review it. Supported formats, feature availability, system requirements and licensing terms change often; we would rather fix a page than defend it.
